SANS standards
Question:
Currently I am considering the “Mine Health and Safety Act No. 29 of 1996”. Especially the topics within the “Machinery and Equipment”, regarding testing and inspection of those equipment.
Therefore I have a general question regarding the lift and lifting equipment. Are there any special SANS standards regarding that equipment for the mines in South Africa?
Many Thanks for your efforts. Hope I hear from you soon.
Answer:
There are numerous SANS and ISO standards that has to be complied with. These standards include but are not limited to:

The lifting standards on a mine however is not limited to these standards. The mine owner may also set standards as long as it improves on the SANS or ISO standards.
